My Very Rainy Disneyland Birthday

Since Krystal's finger surgery prevented her from going to Disneyland for Thanksgiving, we had to go again in December. It worked out that we were there for my birthday but the weather wasn't in a celebratory mood. It was pouring! We stopped at a gas station to buy ponchos before we headed to the park. By the time we got from the parking structure (where we parked on the first level because almost nobody was there) to the tram we were already drenched, but we were not going to let a little rain stop us.
We meant to get to the gate before the park opened, but the rain slowed us down. For the first level (Chip and Dale) to be this empty after 8am is unheard of. This picture makes me laugh every time I see it!

I convinced Kelsey to ride Star Tours with me. Nobody likes that ride, but she gave in because it was my birthday. The whole ride smelled like plastic because of all the people in their new ponchos. Not that there were that many people riding...

We walked onto Space Mountain. They weren't even distributing Fast Passes.

The lady behind me said she could feel the water from my poncho spraying back on her. Halfway through the ride I bunched the poncho up because I could feel it billowing out behind me. Sorry folks!

The characters had to hide out so they could stay dry. Krystal and Adam found Chip and Dale in the theater in town square. We had them all to ourselves because nobody knew they were in there.

See how wet Kelsey's pants are? This is around 4 in the afternoon. It took forever to get dry.

The rain let up in the early afternoon and the rest of the day was great. Some of the attractions were closed because of the rain, but we still had tons of fun. We found out that if it's too wet for the parade, they have "Mickey's Rainy Day Cavalcade" instead. This is when they put all the characters on a bus and drive them down the parade route. Luckily, it was dry enough for the parade, but it would have been fun to see that. Overall, we had tons of fun and I will never forget my rainy Disneyland Birthday.

The rest of these pictures from the Saturday before my birthday. We drove down on Friday the 12th, went to Disneyland on the 13th and 15th and drove home on the 16th.

Princess Minnie! This is a story in itself...

Brer Bear. He and Brer Fox were so hilarious. Some nice ladies in line for the Davy Crockett Canoe (I won't call it a ride because it does involve actual paddling) let us push in front of them and they even took this picture for us!

Krystal's paddle is just for show. She said she couldn't paddle because of her finger (wah!). The little kid behind her totally splashed her the whole time. It's a good thing she was already wearing a green hoodie, because that green water is not natural.

Krystal, stop trying to make sideways Mickey ears happen, they're not going to happen!

The Matterhorn. Take the sleds on the right if you can. There are two different tracks, and I think this one is better. It's the one that ends on the side by Alice in Wonderland.
