A blog of consequence

So I've been thinking lately that maybe my blog should have more direction. Maybe I should write about the books I read or my spiritual growth (or lack therof) or a specific hobby but I just can't decide. So, for now, here's a few things I've been thinking about.

Things I Dislike:
lying in bed trying to fall asleep. i will intentionally stay awake as long as i can just so i will fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. this is part of the reason why i am such a night person. i've heard that lying in bed for 15 minutes before falling asleep is pretty normal if someone is on a regular sleep schedule. i prefer 5 minutes or less. i will sometimes read in bed until i can hardly keep my eyes open but i'm not really one of those people who just falls asleep while i'm watching a movie or reading. i consciously pause the movie or mark the page before i allow myself to fall asleep. as much as i love it, sleep and i have a very tenuous relationship.

Books
Since I graduated college I haven't really made an effort to read books with any weight. Mostly just fun and entertaining fluff. So this year I want to get myself somewhat back on track and maybe read some books that will help expand my mind. I'd love some suggestions from my faithful readers, as well.
Some Books I Want to Read in 2010:
In Defense of Food
The Count of Monte Cristo
Anna Karenina

Les Miserables

Jesus the Christ
Catch-22

A Tale of Two Cities
War and Peace

A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius

Kindred Spirits

November 24th L.M. Montgomery. Her books give me warm fuzzies.

November 23rd Mail. Hooray for the US Postal Service!

November 22nd Cheescake. I tried a hazelnut, cranberry cheesecake from the Beaverton Bakery. So yum. I have been craving cheesecake for so long and this one definitely hit the spot.

November 21st Movie theaters with stadium seating. I love the big, comfy seats and not having to worry about someone's head blocking my view and seeing the screen straight on. Brilliant.

November 20th Chubby, chunky cheeks.

Porter at Disneyland. This picture is like 3 months old, but you get the idea.
November 19th The Book of Mormon. "...the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book." Joseph Smith quoted in the introduction of The Book of Mormon.

November 18th The keyboarding classes I took in middle school and high school.

November 17th Acoustic guitars.

November 16th Truth.

November 15th Adhesive remover. This keeps me sane when sticker gunk is too tenacious.

Turtle Talk

November 14th Cella cordial cherries. These are so good and can only be found at Christmastime. They are the kind with the clear liquid center, not that icky creamy stuff. Ashley bought a box at Winco and she shared it with me (did I mention that I'm also grateful for Ashley?).

November 13th My patriarchal blessing. Every time I read it I know that my Heavenly Father knows me personally and that He takes care of me.

November 12th Avocados. So yummy. They alway remind me of California.

November 11th Sea Turtles. Just look...how can you not love them?
