I'll show you what shoes to wear, how to fix your hair, everything that really counts...

Here's a link to my facebook album from our ward Halloween party. You should be able to view it even if you don't have a facebook account. Let me know if you have any problems.

The Seam Ripper Is My Best Friend

The last two weeks have been all about my Halloween costume. I haven't done laundry or watched a netflix or even slept very much. Now it is almost done. Krystal's mom is finishing it for me, thank goodness because I was about to implode. But I'm starting to worry because she is swearing at the sewing machine!

Since I saw Wicked in LA in March I have been planning to be Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) for Halloween. I even bought some amazing witch shoes to wear. Then a few weeks ago I decided that I probably shouldn't be the Wicked Witch. Although Elphaba isn't quite as wicked as The Wizard of Oz portrays her, I just thought I wanted to do something less dark...plus when I was looking at black fabric my eyes kept wandering down the aisle toward all the pretty, colorful material. So once Kelsey announced that she was being Elphaba I decided to be Glinda!

Not this Glinda...

...this Glinda!!! (Megan Hilty)

The funny thing is that Kelsey would be a perfect Glinda. She has the blonde hair and the big blue eyes. All the time I have been planning to be Elphaba, I have been trying to convince her to be Glinda the Good, Officially! But now our roles have reversed and she is Kelsaba for real. Her costume is quite amazing and mine is quite beautiful thanks the Sis. Hill. Yay!

You Have Stolen My Heart

Before the show

Dashboard Confessional is one of my favorite bands of all time. Last Saturday Krystal and I went to the Rock Band Live concert at San Jose State. The Cab, Plain White T's, Dashboard Confessional, and Panic at the Disco! played (in that order). Despite my swooning anticipation for Dashboard, I really enjoyed Plain White T's. Their famous acoustic song "Hey There Delilah" is not really representative of their style, but they have a fun, upbeat sound.

The Plain White T's

I was sad that Dashboard wasn't the headliner, but the show was great. A little bit flashier and louder than usual, but understandable since they are touring to promote the release of the Rock Band 2 video game. Krystal and I thought that their time on stage was really short, but when we were talking about it afterward we could remember at least 10 songs. As you can tell, we went to the concert just to see Dashboard. We even made shirts with our favorite song lyrics. Mine is from "Age Six Racer" and says "so long sweet slumber, I fell into you now you're gracefully falling away." Krystal's says "my heart is sturdy but it needs you" from "Reason to Believe."
After Dashboard played, we decided to go look for Chris Carrabba (Dashboard's front man). Meeting him was one of the main reasons we came. We snuck out the back entrance in hopes of getting closer to the buses, but after going down some stairs and through a door we ended up right near the stage exit where we were interrogated by security guards...ok that's a bit of an exaggeration, they pretty much just wanted to know why we were coming out that way since we weren't supposed to be there. After that we walked around the entire events center trying to figure out where to go. We decided to go back and loiter near the stage exit. While we were there we saw several other groups of fans wander by who were also clearly searching for Dashboard. You see it's a well known fact that Chris likes to chat with the fans after a show. Krystal kept her unusually keen ears and eyes open while I scoped out an ostentatious looking limo (I should have known it wasn't Dashboard's style). While I was doing that Krystal noticed some other chicas loudly exclaiming about meeting Chris. Anyway, to make a long story short we met Chris Carrabba and drummer Mike Marsh! Yay! Ok, now take a moment to let that sink in. Breathe in and out. YAY!

Chris and Mike were very gracious and relaxed and even their bodyguard was really nice and took pictures for us. We talked to a few other fans and let me tell you, I have not yet met a Dashboard Confessional fan that I did not like. If you listen to DC you are pretty much awesome.
Chris noticed Krystal's shirt right away and said, "Oh, we should have played that song tonight." I think the most amazing thing of all though is that Krystal did not get grumpy from being hungry. We ate lunch around 1:30 and did not eat anything else until after 11pm. If you have ever been around Hungry Krystal you know what a miracle this is. I finally found something that Krystal loves more than food!

*Sigh* see you next time Chris (and bodyguard dude).

Pizza My Heart. Open late for the college kids, thank goodness! (isn't Krystal's new haircut cute?)

Vote Yes on Prop 8

I know my blog's readership is quite minuscule, but I wanted to be sure everyone knows where I stand on this. Prop 8 would add an amendment to the California Constitution that says simply, "Only marriage between a man and woman is valid and recognized in California." It is very straightforward and its main purpose is to ensure that traditional marriage is sustained and protected by law. It does not take any rights or priveleges from same sex couples. As I've been out walking neighborhoods to share information about this proposition I've found that many people are in support of it. Not everyone was willing to share how they will be voting, but of the people I spoke with I would say the majority support Prop 8. The important thing now is to get them out on election day to exercise their right to VOTE! Go traditional marriage!

September Fun

We went to the Jelly Belly Factory on September 13th! I had to get some good Jelly Belly beans since the Cold Stone ones were so gross.
Kelsey, Krystal and I took Kelsey's nephew Andrew on his first outing without his parents. He was a perfect angel and we had lots of fun.

For lunch I had a Jelly Belly shaped pizza! Cute!

Kelsey had peaches/squash.

Just kidding, that's what Andrew had. Isn't his chubby face adorable?

No pictures are allowed during the factory tour, so I can't share any Jelly Belly secrets. But I bought lots of candy. My favorite flavor is juicy pear! It's tantalizingly tasty. I also love the JBz which are like M&Ms but the candy shell is flavored. They used to have tons of different flavors, but they scaled back to just a few, coconut, caramel, chocolate, vanilla, and cappuccino. Caramel and coconut are my favorite.

West High finally got its own football stadium! For the inaugural game on September 19th the alumni were invited to be at the ceremony. We all signed a football that was presented to Coach Steve Lopez who the stadium is named after. He has been the WHS football head coach since the school opened in 1993. He said he was just glad it's not a memorial stadium, haha. Most of the former quarterbacks were there and Andy Sansaver, the QB from my class, said a few words and presented the ball. The new stadium is really nice and so big. The craziest thing to me is the artificial grass, it's way nicer than astroturf and will never need to be mowed or watered.

Adam, Kelsey, and Krystal outside the stadium.

Adam on the field. Look at the cool grass!

Ah, what a beautiful evening in Tracy.

On September 27th Adam, Eric, and Paige hosted an amazing Hollywood Party. We all dressed up and walked down the red carpet to an evening of elegance. It was way fun and everyone looked so beautiful.

Blogger is having troubles uploading the rest of my pictures right now, so I'll have to try again later. Stay tuned...
